About VEXU Robotics

We are Ursa Mechanica, the VEXU robotics team at the University of California, Riverside. Every year, we design, build, and test 2 fully functional robots with the aim of qualifying for the VexU World Championships in May.

We are a proud team of 10+ members who placed in the 90th percentile at the 2023 Vex World Championships and qualified for Worlds with the Excellence Award in 2024. Join the team and compete with us this year at CSUN and Mt. SAC, and gain practical hands-on experience in engineering and science.

The Competition

We are competing at CSUN (Jan 18th) and Mt. SAC (Feb 15th) this upcoming spring. Our performance is what will determine if we continue to keep our Worlds streak going!

VEXU is an engaging robotics competition where 2 teams of 2 robots each face off on a 12’ x 12’ field. The game features an Autonomous Period followed by a Driver-Controlled Period, during which teams score points by completing various tasks, such as placing rings on goals and climbing structures. The game and the objectives change every year, which requires us to innovate and improve to stay competitive.
